Nothing Can Corrupt You | Short Buddha Story

The monks under Buddha had a rule. They would only stay at one's home for maximum 3 days. This rule was passed by, by Buddha himself, in order to avoid trouble for the ones that serve them. When Buddha and his disciples travel across lands, they used to stay in poor households in villages for 3 days and it didn't bother anyone from giving them a place to take rest. All monks and Buddha himself find a home among many in these villages and at the end of the third day, they rejoin at the village square and continue to the path of seeking.

So one fine day they reached yet another one of these villages. As Buddha and his disciples were sorting for homes to stay, one of Buddha's disciple, Ananda, got invited by a prostitute to stay at her home. She was a young and beautiful women. Ananda told her that he was willing to stay but he would have to ask the Buddha first. The prostitute responded: " really, you need permission from your teacher?". "No", Ananda said, " I'm sure my teacher Buddha will not tell me to put me down but it is a norm to ask." "Fine" said the prostitute.

So Ananda went to Buddha and told him "Buddha!", " A women wants me to take shelter at her home during at our 3 days rest but the women is a prostitute." Buddha leaned back and said: "If she is inviting you with so much affection, you should not reject her invitation. Go and stay in her home". This didn't go well with Buddha's other disciples who started questioning " Why sent him to a prostitute? This is against a monk's code of conduct." Buddha answered: "Well, i guess we will find the truth in 3 days", and the disciples went silent.

Ananda went to prostitute's home and stayed there for 3 days. The rest of the monks started spying on them and were reporting everything back to Buddha. Buddha remained silent and didn't mind to respond. On the fist day, they hear music, Ananda and women singing. And the couple of monks said, "This is it, he is gone". And on the second day, they hear them dancing in the home and now everyone echos: "this is it, he is gone". On the third day, they were literally singing and dancing and at this point, the monks realized that they would not see Ananda anymore for the rest of their journey.

So after 3 days every monks has gathered together as they are set to move to their next destination. They were eagerly waiting for Ananda. Some of them agreed that he would not be coming back but what surprised everyone was not that he came back, but that there was now a new member to their gathering. A female monk.

Everyone scratched their heads except Buddha himself and said:"If you know what you are doing is right, nothing can corrupt you, instead you change the corrupted"

Buddha himself welcomed the new monk to the gathering and they proceeded with the path to seek together.

(You know nothing in life can corrupt your mind if your will power is strong enough. In our society these days we are becoming increasingly suspicious of each other but we are all here to save each other,  to help each other. Don't judge a book by it's cover, everyone of us deep inside is the same deserves the same changes and no chit chat chattering about what is new in the village and in your town. Stay calm, stay modest and always believe.)

Sir Ken Robinson talk at TED 2006 | Do schools kill creativity? [texts]

Photo: TED.com " Good morning. How are you?  (Audience:  Good)  It's been great, hasn't it?   I've been blown away by the whole thing.   In fact, I'm leaving.   (audience laughing)  There have been three themes running through the conference,   which are relevant to what I want to talk about.   One is the extraordinary evidence of human creativity   in all of the presentations that we've had   and in all of the people here;   just the variety of it and the range of it.  The second is that it's put us in a place   where we have no idea what's going to happen   in terms of the future.   No idea how this may play out.   I have an interest in education.   Actually, what I find is, everybody has an interest in education.   Don't you?   I find this very interesting.   If you're at a dinner party, and you say you work in education --   actually, you're not often at dinner par...

The purpose of life - Short story of a father and son

Photo: Where do i begin? | modernmysteryschoolint.com Once upon a time there lived a very wise man. He was the mayor of  a local village. Everyone respected him and his views and opinions were well regarded. Many people came to him seeking advice. His son however, was very lazy and wasted his time sleeping and spending time with his friends. No amount of advice or threat made any difference to him, he would not change at all. The years passed and with time faded the youth of the wise man. As he grew older he began to worry about his sons future. He recognized that he had to give his son something, so that he could take care of himself and his family to be in the future.  So one day the wise man called his son to his room and said:  "My son, you are no longer a kid now.
